DARK SKIN FAIRY

My love for poems, poetry has helped me blossom into a beautiful woman. Additionally, allowing the universe to pour into me aided my transgressions turning into seeds. These blooms offered the wisdom and knowledge I yearned for.

“My Garden”

The manure you left in my garden helped a whole new flower bloom. I grounded myself in the very soil you told me wasn’t good enough.

The soil transmuted the nastiness you spewed into pink, yellow, and white flowers. The universe let it rain for a while, so all I had was the space to feel. During that rainy season, I realized that you pretended to water my garden even though the hose wasn’t plugged into the source.

Then I remembered that I was the source. The peace came from seeing the leaves fall and the tree wither from the cold, then bloom fruits that fed and housed the birds. I understand now why rainy days are important; the soil needs water.

Better to have your grass watered by the goddesses of rain than an imposter claiming that his the God of the Ocean. It’s essential to the growth and prosperity of your garden that you’re able to remain grounded so that your vision remains clear throughout the seasons.

I pray that my seeds produce a harvest that will last me days, months, and years. I trust that the universe will always show me how good it will get for me. Remain grateful in good and bad seasons. Hold on to the essentials and take care of your garden. God will bless you.

“The Sovereign Woman”

When I finally gained sovereignty and liberation, poems, poetry stirred anger from my belly and demanded balance.

It demanded that the laws of the universe be used to balance the scales. It was ignorant, rude, and ambitious in its pursuit of justice. First, I allowed my anger to meet me on a first-name basis.

She was dark and beautiful. She was strong, powerful, and resilient. She was feared. She was often overlooked, but was the epitome of what scorching still waters that ran deep looked like. Her strength came from things bigger than herself, and when my sorrows arose, the crows were always present to listen.

“Muddy Waters”

Whenever I feel disconnected, I look for the water.

The water feels like home; it feels safe.

Safety that the land demands we yearn, hurt, and sacrifice for

My soul refused to settle for the false sense of security that the clear waters offered me.

The ties of those who benefited from my native spirit were washed away

The veil was removed, and the fog disappeared

I was awakened and realized who my true enemies were

The muddy waters took the burdens, traumas, and betrayals of my past off my back

I no longer feared the muddy waters; it gave me courage

The waters validated my passions and the things that made me happy

It trades my pain for joy and gives me freedom

The waters bargained with me as I held on tight to the girl that I used to be

Pledging with me to let go if I wanted to become the woman that I dreamt of

Strong and fearless women can’t carry the body of the girl they used to be around.

With tears in my eyes, I grieved that girl

Before I let her go, I made a promise to vindicate all of her pain

The illusion of fear was shattered by the muddy waters

It healed me and set me free.

“The Distorted Rose”

Born from mud

Lived through the dirt

Loved through the rainstorm

Laugh through thunder

Roots planted deep in the mud

Distorted and Damaged

Thrones are part of my anatomy

Sharp and ready to defend the dirt that I’m grounded on

It’s the reason that I’ve grown so beautifully

“Egyptian Empress”

Soft brown eyes

Sharp jawline

Arched brows

Soft plump lips

All keys to the puzzle

All small clues that tell the story of who I was in my past life

Moles expose the places that my past lovers admired the most

Curls that are as soft as my skin under the sun

The Sun grounds and protects me from the stars above

Protection that allows me to remember

Fears were not things to be anxious about, but to embrace

Embody its very essence to become one with it

In my past life, I was an Empress

A muse to many

Something to cherish

The marbles were shaped with the sole purpose of highlighting my every curve,

Men begged to kiss my feet

I was admired by men near and far.

In this lifetime, the lesson I needed to learn was that admiration did not equate to love.

The light that beauty carries often attracts those with malicious intent and the need to control

True beauty is not measured by how many admirers you have but by your character.

There’s one true love that wasn’t sold as a little girl

The one love that has the power to heal every transgression and trauma

In this lifetime, this empress understands the importance of self-assurance and love.

“The light of the Empress”

Carrying this light requires you to love others

Leave your mark on those you’ve come across

Remember that you inspire others with the resilience, ambition, and courage it takes to overcome the obstacles that you face.

The admiration of others is only an addition to the love that should overflow your life.

Admiration does not equate to access.

Existing as a concept is better than letting the unwary characters in

True beauty attracts those who disguise control as love

The veil that once made everything rose-colored has now been removed

I realized that toads can dress up as Prince Charming

Enemies can be disguised as friends

Let the mask fall

Let their guards remain down while being aware of their game plan

No one suspects a pretty face to be able to discern a performance from the real thing

It’s easy to spot the fakes by their constant need for a crowd’s approval

With great power comes great responsibility

In a world full of darkness, the light that you carry is a gift from those who came before you.

Your inheritance is their knowledge that is infused into the DNA flowing through you.

It is the instrument that will carry you out of the darkness.

Many perceive beauty as ditzy and clueless

So their guards are always down, and masks often slip unconsciously

When your power is rooted in your very essence and existence

There’s no need to play in the mud

Unlocking the identities from my past life validates me

My father gave me the gift of  my visual prowess

The words he spoke to me in my youth now guide me through the valleys

Doves watch over my path

I now harvest those seeds that were planted in my adolescence

The love, support, and discipline that I once disdained, now the foundation that keeps me grounded

The universe has applied pressure to make me a diamond

Amid my evolution, I’m grateful for those who poured knowledge, love, and support into my dreams

Those who weren’t my blood but washed the dirt away

Those who remembered my character and consideration

This time around, my purpose is to experience true love

Love that doesn’t require you to shrink or be mishandled

Love that pours into you on good and bad days

Love that yearns to see you at your happiest, and still thinks you deserve more!

Love that prefers you to be selfish with your essence

Love that see the marble and remain in reverence of its beauty

Love that doesn’t second-guess

Love that indulges

Then I realized that I was my only true love and

That brought me peace.

“Destiny wrote it.”

Ruled by Venus and Pluto

Exalted by Saturn and Mars

I traced my purpose back to the way the stars shone and the planets aligned the day that the universe decided that it could not fathom another day without me on Earth.

Venus blessed me with love and beauty

Saturn gave me a hard lesson and no shortcuts

Pluto gave me depth and the ability to transmute my indiscretion into power.

Mars gave me confidence, so I don’t wear my potency on my sleeves.

Destiny wrote in the stars that my desires would always be my possessions

Saturn gave me the relationships that I thought I wanted, and then taught me that the person hand-picked by the powers that be would never take shortcuts when it comes to loving me

It gave me the medicine of reality whenever I found myself sick of questioning others’ intentions.

It taught me that I could only trust myself and trust everyone else to be themselves, good or bad.

It taught me that the first sign was the only sign needed to create distance.

It was advised like a stern Father who reminded you that some lessons could be learned from others’ mistakes.

It gave gems disguised as riddles and puzzles.

Destiny aligned the planets so that no weapon formed against me shall prosper; any tongue that speaks against me will remain condemned.

I was given the gift of depth and love that could melt you and pull back all the layers you hide behind.

Love that felt pain by the way you cling to every affirming word

Venus gave me love, passion, and a longing for more

Craving intimacy that explores your anatomy without ever laying a

finger on you

While teaching you that in your loss, you still experienced love

Love is a mirror, so you never truly lose

I’m grateful that the stars and planets aligned in celebration of my arrival.

I’m grateful that I’ve been bestowed with the honor of being ruled by love that’s potent.

Exalted by grit and with the ability to transmute

The stars and planets always aligning in my favor is destiny reminding me that she wrote out my blessings, and no one or thing could come between them.

They might be able to slow me down or distract me, but no one could touch what is mine.

My desires were ordained for me to have sole ownership.

Since destiny wrote it, I surrender and trust.

“Venus Flytrap”

Born to be delicate and soft, poems, poetry inspire.

With the ability to eliminate any threat in pursuit of growth

Cloaked with harmony and balance

Adorn with love and gentleness

Being perceived as prey could lead to dissipation

Best to be admired from afar

Harmony allows the space for the old to be replaced

The balance that comes from taking everything and converting it into fuel

Remaining poised but ruthless

Embodying the same green that represents the prosperity of the grass that grows below

Your ignorance confuses softness with facile.

The intent behind your actions reveals the misconception of what my endearment truly means.

You’ve mistaken my alluring nature for something that could be filch

Only to find out that it can’t be replicated

To be able to grow violently beautiful

A daily prayer

Thank you for waking me up today.

I’m grateful for my life

I’m grateful for my loss

I’m grateful for the love

I’m thankful for my struggles

I’m thankful for my blessings

May my steps remain protected

May my foes remain at a length

May my cup remain running till my last day

I pray Psalm 91 over my path

I pray Psalm 7 against my enemies

I pray Psalm 23 to sleep at night

All while keeping a blunt rolled and my mind right

May my ambitions and passion be the driving force behind everything that I do

May my enemies be cloaked in shame and guilt

May the misfortune and graves they dug for me consume them

May they remain in disarray and all their mischievous ways return on their pate.

Thank you for my life.

“182”

182 days in

Still confused

Still unimpressed

Still figuring it out

Still trying to make it out

A degree

A job

A house

A car

I’m not sure if I want it all

Even with  achievement under my belt,

Still not sure if this is on my yellow brick road

I guess I’ll be stuck trying to figure out

Confused

Unimpressed

Figuring it out

While trying to make it out

Bunch of “B”

The world is filled with a bunch of B’s

Bad bitches

Broke niggas

Bad friends

Bad family members

Bad jobs

Shit, sometimes it feels like a bad life

Growing up, no one ever warned me how much a bunch of b would affect me

As a self-identified bad bitch

My measurements, money, or partner don’t contribute to my bad bitchness

It’s in me, not on me

Unlike broke niggas, who are morally bankrupt

They often forgot that women have it in them, not on them

And if a broke niggas is both morally and financially bankrupt, that’s a killer on the loose

In a world filled with a bunch of b, men try to erode the intangible things in you by projecting their own insecurities onto you

And that’s a bunch of BS

Can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends

Either way, you’ll have to deal with their BS

I’ll never truly love a broke nigga

But I’ll always love my friends and family

Even if they’re bad for me

This realization made all the betrayals I’ve ever overlooked for my own comfort

I’ve held on tighter to bad friends more than I have to my own aspirations

The harsh lesson that tasted like bitter medicine was that my love is never gonna be enough

Even for my own blood

A bad job can make life feel bad

No job is most definitely a bad life

Just like a toxic relationship, letting go of bad, like job feels like signing up for a bad life

But, what if a perfect life is the opposite of letting go

Taking a chance on letting go without any worries

The strength of a bird isn’t determined by the branch it lands on but by its ability to spread it wings and fly away.

The world may be filled with a bunch of b’s

Just make sure you’re the right one

Manic Misandrist

“You’re such a narc.”

The first time a man’s words truly aroused me

I’m not a narc, I don’t even hate men

I don’t truly hate anything

I prefer that women lead

I prefer a woman doctor, advisor, and as my president

I prefer a woman as a sheriff, mayor, shit, even a plumber

I prefer women who run with the wolves because I know that they’re leading the pack

Am I a narc for preferring women?

Does it make me a lesbian because I don’t see the value of men?

Is it wrong for me to believe that women are meant to be the breadwinners?

Is it wrong to believe that men are only good for having babies and should stay home to take care of them?

That they should abandon their passions, desires, and happiness to raise a family

I’d prefer that men only speak when spoken to

And yes, I do believe that women are better than men

I’ve hardly ever valued a man’s input, but those words sat with me

Why is my need for self-preservation translated as narcissism to a man?

Why is my ability to detach from unpleasant situations seen as an extension of my own narcissism?

But anyway, I went on about my day

Booking an appointment with my women’s college advisor

Booking an OBGYN appointment with a black woman doctor

Still praying that Kamala becomes president

That’s my ideal world

Maybe I’m a narc

Maybe I’m manic

Either way, I’m a misandrist

“The In Between”

Somewhere between psychotic and iconic

Wise words from the ice man

I’ll hold on tight to those words

While I’m trying

Trying to find me

Trying to find peace

Trying to find where God wants to take me

I just feel like I’m in between

I’m between different versions of myself

I’m confused about which aspects of my life I should take with me

As much as I enjoy letting go of

I never enjoy letting go

The only way out is through, they say

I cling to my resilience, strength, and passion

In the meantime, I guess I’ll enjoy the in between.
